In my last article I talked about the two keys of genius and I hoped it helped. Today we will be talking about something really special and interesting that will help you become the genius you have always desired.

What we will be talking about is really lengthy and I don’t want to write everything so we will be breaking this down.

MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT THE HUMAN MIND.

As the title suggest this is the broader topic we will be discussing in series.

Misconception=understanding about something that is wrong but you hold the belief it is right.

So what are the misconceptions we will be discussing?

The following will be what we will be discussing in series:

  • The brain cannot change.
  • We only use part of our brain or the 10% of our brain myth.
  • Intelligence is fixed.

So for today we will be talking about the first misconceptions, that is the brain cannot change.

Forgive me this turns out lengthy,I am doing my best to simplify everything.

The brain cannot change

There are studies which prove this misconception wrong but we will reserve that for now.

Most people believe that after adolescence, the brain cannot change.

But this is not true. So if the brain cannot change then what induces change in our brain?

The answer is our behavior.

Behavior=the way someone act or react to a particular condition or situation as well as his environment.

What brings or imparts change in your brain daily is your behavior and attitude.

Attitude=opinions or feeling you show by your behavior.

So if we simply want to change our mind, we simply need to change our behavior and if we do that our brain changes along with our life.

Have you noticed how you easily label a friend of yours silly because he behaves childish.

What is going on in that person’s mind are only childish thoughts which reflects in his behavior. So for that person to change his brain to think like an adult,he needs to change his behavior which means he should start acting more mature.

The human brain changes in the main ways:

  • Physical
  • Chemical
  • State or function

Let’s take them one by one and talk about them.

Physical=relates to the brain changing it’s structure to suit your behavior.

Chemical=relates to the brain connecting neurons to induce change. This is where short term memory lies and in this state, the brain changes only for a short term.

State or function=this is where the brain changes it’s entire state and function to suit your current behavior. This is where the long term memory lies.

Now that we know the ways in which our brain changes, the question is

How can someone through his behavior change the state and function of the brain?

The final state can only be achieved through habits. When actions and behaviors gets repeated for a long time it in turn changes your brain’s entire state and function.

But what about the other two?

Well, they are only for the short term and through them an activity gets shifted to the state or function state to enforce change.

This is where we will end. We will continue with the other misconceptions as soon as I release the next article.
